Sugar Cookie with Cream Cheese

I've tried several sugar cookie recipes and this one is my favorite.  This is the only cookie my extremely-picky-son would eat.  The other would just eat anything!

I like this cookies so much that I since stopped putting royal icing on these cookies because it would be sacrilegious.  I like these cookies brown, the browner the better, but not burnt.  You can really taste the brown butter in the cookies when they are over baked.

1 cup butter
8-oz cream cheese
1.5 cups (300g) sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp almond extract
1 tsp baking powder
3.5 cups (438g) all-purpose flour

Mix flour and baking powder.
Put everything else in mixer, medium speed, mix for a few minutes.
Add flour, mix on low just until incorporate.

Refrigerate.  Roll 1/4-inch thick.  Cut.

Bake at 375F for 12 minutes (depending on your oven of course).
For a browner, crispier cookies, bake for 15 minutes.
When I bake 2 trays, it could take up to 18-20 minutes for both.
